Port Washington has 3 Ambulances, 2 Fly Cars solely for medic use. Port also gets one of the highest number of ambulance calls per year as well

I'd have to go with Bethpage, they currently run three ambulances, one out of each station, with one spare for a total of four.

Great Neck Vigilants have 3 ambulances and a fly car. They get a decent amount of runs, but most overall calls I would have to go with Port.

Port had 4 buses, back in the mid-90s. We went back down to 3 because we couldn't justify the additional cost of maintaining a 4th rig. The amount of times all 3 rigs were on calls at the same time was small enough to justify not having all 4. Just call for M/A; 3rd Sig 9s is automatically dual-response anyways. --dave Port Washington has 3 Ambulances, 2 Fly Cars solely for medic use. Does PW have a lot of calls or just tone them out 3 or 4 times??

Busiest in Nassau behind Long Beach..Consistently #2 in the County in total runs. EMS to Fire call ratio is about 55% EMS, 45% Fire. Also, PW has one of the more agressive re-alert policies out there.. Re-trans every 2 mins. So, a 3rd call is 6 minutes after the initial tone-out. Hence one of the reasons why a lot of people hear 9s go 2nd/3rd call more often than some other areas. Even with the re-alerts, still has one of the better response times in the county for both Fire and EMS, according to our friends at Newsday ;D Does PW have a lot of calls or just tone them out 3 or 4 times??

Nice theory but in reality Ambulance Bureau is all civilians, so they wont be catching the bad guys. There haven't been any cops in the ambulance bureau for about 10 years.

THE AEMTS AND MEDICS ON THE HELO (14H) I AM ALMOST POSITIVE ARE P.O.'S

Correct, the Med-Techs in the Helos are P.O.'s. Their primary function is law enforcement. The only P.O. left in the bureau is Inspector Fitzwilliam. Everyone else is civilian, including the DCO.
