Technically speaking, a "Working" fire is when you pull up, and you have a flame of any sort that has no cantainment or extinguishment in progress yet.
Therefore it is a "Working" fire until the "Wet stuff goes onto the red stuff" be it a trash can fire, bedroom fire, chimney fire, or flames from all 4 sides fire!
Technically speaking that is........

Last week Bethpage had two 10's in less than 24 hours. The first one was in the south end of town. It sounded like they called every dept. around for mutual-aid except North Massapequa who was probably the closest. Anybody know what's up with that? Don't those 2 depts. play nicely together?

Unfortunately the BFD/NMFD sandbox has had it share of sandcastle stomping and pail dumping lately. I wish there was some light at the end of the tunnel for this baby b@^^$&%t but I don't see it.

Once again here is the totally unofficial, but pretty close job count. Again the usual disclaimer...This is put together from several sources, and is not intended to be the absolutely official list. If one or two were missed, I appologize. Also everyone definition of a job differs, so keeping that in mind...here goes:
For Feb. Hempstead - 4 Long Beach - 2 Rockville Centre - 2 Manhasset Lakeville - 2 Bethpage - 2 Garden City Park - 1 Glen Cove - 1 Massapequa - 1 Merrick - 1 Franklin Square - 1 Roosevelt - 1 Hicksville - 1 (not the shed fire)
Total - 20
Year so far
Hempstead - 6 Rockville Centre - 3 Manhasset Lakeville - 3 Bethpage - 3 Massapequa - 2 Elmont - 2 Jericho - 2 Hicksville - 2 Wantagh - 2 East Meadow - 2 Long Beach - 2
