We have a mix of MT1000 (4 per company) HT1000 (8 per company) 1 ht750 for each ambulance. the chiefs carry at least 2 ht1250s, i think both vhf and uhf. Each engine/truck has one radio per position so the engines and rescue pumpers have 6 and the truck (open cab mack) only has 4, we dont allow 6 on the truck with only man-savers for safety reasons. plus the 3 brush trucks also have HT1000s, i think the brat has 2-3 the other 2 only have 1

Commack Has mainly HT750's for each riding position. HT1250's for the officer. Chief's have 2 1250's each. Each First due piece has a UHF-Low Band Cross Repeater and the Heavy Rescue has Tri-Band Capability for rapid intervention and Tac-Rescue. The Apparatus is using CDM1250's for UHF and Low Band on the newer stuff and Mara-Trac's and Max-Trac's on the older ones.

M-LFD uses a whole bunch of different radios. For the longest time each of the fire companies had 4-5 Motorola HT1000's. Then, a whole bunch of Erikson portables were donated to our department from I believe the Fire Academy. Each company received about 3 of those. Now, the department each year is giving each company a new Motorola HT1250. In 4's we keep three radios on the Engine, and four radios on each of the Trucks.

In Oceanside the officer radio in each rig is the HT 1250. Then the engines carry 3 HT 1000's and I belive the truck carries 5 HT 1000's.

HT 1000s and MT(s) 2000's are discontinued. They are more or less the same model.
They were/are known for their durability, earning them the nickname "Jedis".
They were the defacto public safety model before the advent of the XTS and HT750/1250 line. Any department who made a UHF upgrade 5-10 years ago is more than likely using them.
Islip Terrace, Hauppauge, Brentwood are all departments using the HT1000 and MTS 2000.
By the way, Bay Shore will be using the XTS 2500 line (the same radio recently distributed to all departments for use with the 800 system).

Not sure about the engines, I think they have 6 radios.
In the Truck we have 6 radios on each rig: Officer (HT-1250) Chauffer (HT-1000) Irons (HT-1000) Can (HT-1000) O.V. (HT-1000) Roof (HT-1000)

We're (Kings Park) currently switching to TAIT for our highband truck radios. Our portables will still be Motorola. When it's in service i'll let you know how it is.

I love my MT2000 and MTS2000. They take one hell of a beating. The whole Jedi line was nice.
