Can anyone tell me what that little "chiming" or "bells" you hear in the background during a dispatch of a call ??
( ding ding )
I think I hear it more with 650 than from firecom.
Or am I just hearing things ?!?!

The "ding ding" will also occur when the Op is sending a call to the CAD system. its firecom it means that there is a call coming in

The "ding ding" will also occur when the Op is sending a call to the CAD system. its firecom it means that there is a call coming in It will also sound if you hit more than one key at once as in a default critical stop sound. Also when you log the computers on...for that matter, pretty much any time you touch the stinking keyboards

I would go nuts if I had to hear that all the time.
It's bad enough that i have chiefs calling me on the radio that I have to acknowledge.
OOps.... that's my job... disregard.

You can't get answered until you answer what the "F" your 4 x 12 dispatcher was doing SCREAMING the radio check at 6:25 this evening while all the truck sirens were wailing in the background? I dunno, call me fickle, if all the trucks sirens were blaring in the background while I was doing something unimportant on the radio, two things come to my empty mind, don't go on the radio or wait till their tantrum is over. Ding, ding!

This is the deal with the ringing bells. Six bell rings means a call is sent from the phone operator to the phone out position (position who call FDs). The swoop noise (I have no other explanation for that noise) means a call is being sent from the phone operator to medcom or firecom for activation. A plain beep means that a call is updated with new info. That loud ding that you hear means a dispatcher is thinking about going home

Nothing personal sinks, but if you don't understand, there's a reason. If I explain I'll get the boot from the board. If there's a what question it goes to warth? What country are you talking about?

WOW!!! What a long thread about nothing..LOL! Anyway, not to rub the "audibles" in everyone's face again.. But there are a lot of Ding Dings that can happen..When I disp for Hicksville years back the ding dings were the Gamewell pull Box real and system Bell in the dispatch office banging in sync with the horns up on the roof counting the rounds of blasts... Who knows but I'm sure the gamewell box is long gone by now.... 230 Long Beach had the same system

You got issues bro. You and grumpy need to seek help, maybe get a 2 for 1 deal. I call it the Obsessive-Depressive combo.

Oh, and i know most of ya are FireCom, but FRES has that system too. Was really neat to walk in the ComRoom during that brush fire in brentwood/deer park. bells and swooshes and ding and dong and the witch is dead. sounded like an arcade.

Yeah, we still have the bell that syncs with the audibles. Was funny years back hearing a chief over the radio "I can't hear you over the ding ding ding noise."

Neg, it means he wants a Double-Double and fries. A double double, as in ONE? When it comes to food, nothing is spoken in the singular as far as Tellem goes. A gross of double double's...now that I'd believe.
