I think a designation should be established countywide. I mean if we can have one to refill air bottles and one designated for a trip to Fire Com we should have one to alert all parties at fire scene that someone has been found.

I think all the possible signals have been handed out already.......
Just use "Plain English"........ Should start doing it now, or else wait until Federal Government makes you

I agree, plain english is the way to go. It just makes everything much easier and gets things across more clearly.

Come on, refilling air bottles, when was the last time you heard that one used. I can say the same thing for a tour of Fire Com. The last twenty or so Nassau signals were invented by the N.C. Fire Commission to be used for messages only. The last signal invented was for an MCI. I don't think many of us know or use that one too much either. Plain english has worked without any problems for victims so far, why ruin it with another signal no one will remember, right TUB?

Signal 42 is to be transmitted upon an MCI. However the guidelines for it were very unclear. It was to my understanding that a Signal 42 could only be transmitted if the said department had on file with Fire Com a procedure for it. Regarding resources to be called so on and so forth.

we should be in charge, we have all the great ideas, shit were also the ones who have to use this nonsense. So why not. Why do these 'councils' get the say? its worse than the electoral college.

The problem is that the councils are all the "Old Dogs" who will refuse to their graves to learn a "New Trick"

Most departments are using there own "fireground" frequency now, no reason why department "x" can't have its own coded lingo - Just as a good practice if you do have your own codes, only use them on YOUR freq. and maybe even forward a copy to all of the bordering districts... I will admit I am sure that it was cause confusion on M/A's so plain english is probably the way to go.
