But I think they can trip their high band pagers through 4-2-0's system, their tones get repeated on UHF. CI is going UHF Paging soon as well. Minitor V's are pretty neat. uhf paging is great my dept has had it for many years now and many other departments are switching over as far as the minitor v it is a great idea and has alot of features. the only problem i see thus far is the amp charger is a piece of junk

def very good with reception but the charger amp problems i found in some cases to be the pager having problems and the charger brings it out and makes it much more noticiable

Town wide dispatchers like babylon central are better than county wide also self department dispatching is good to!

I have to second Rob's question, which Fire Com are we talking about? There are two NOW! yea opp there is only 1 true firecom and it started in the summer of 1973! Nassau County Fire Commission _Firecom. Yacrank will always be County Control KEG977 ..... I love rubbing this in on a daily basis.. ;D

yes thanks.. I say from now on everyone call FRES as 52 Control on the radio instead of firecom... You would be more in compliance with regulations...Lets just see if you suffolk boys have the balls to go against the grain of what these days seems to be the lame "norm"
-String up the chaos again!

doesnt the term "firecom" come straight out of some manual on recommended names for a fire dispatch? (ie, its easy to remember and self-explanatory) i think i remember someone on here stating that a long time ago.

That could be but why does Suffolk Fire rescue have to be so novis now.... ..They sound like kids on CB radios now.... I guess the main point is why does FRES have to use the word firecom .. I think it ads more confusion than anything in a "cross county" operation since the neighboring county has been already patented with firecom... I would have respected Fres saying " fire control" if they want to make things easy... But fire rescue shouldn't be easy! I've been in it for over 20 years and know every different signal and protocol in both counties... I don't need any plain langauge to aid me in an "Easier" fire rescue operation, it's more confusing i think.... To me signals and codes Are Plain Language!

Anyone know why?? Has to do with the name of the county and where they are in the alphabet.. Yes if you have ever filled out a state fire report the first 2 numbers of the long code # for your Dept. in Nassau it's 33..and Suffolk 52.....then the remainder of the # is in alphabetical order as well, like in Nassau Albertson would be 33001......try it for yourself kids....fun for the whole family! Now that would be some buff who knows all the Dept. reporting code #'s.....why do I get the feeling Rob knows this...just kidding.

We tried switching over to Southampton Town PD. All it took was one screw up dispatching a 35 and we were back to FRES the next day. So we're back to about a 5 minute delay getting dispatched.

The answer for Nassau County is a new county trunked system that works along with one central dispatch center for all. NO FREQ. ASSIGNED TO JUST ONE DEPT.
