Nope, those I believe those are for the repeaters throughout the district... Thre are 5 all around the borders in strategic places since we cant send transmission across the airport property. Pretty much the signal bounces from the dispatch booth to whatever repeater we have selected here to transmit on.

EFFC is licensed for 2 watts on 453.1625 and 458.1625. They are not licensed for 453.9625 or 458.9625. They also have no application pending at the FCC. Are you sure these numbers are correct?

how do you avoid sending any signal across the airport? radio waves aren't point to point, they go in all directions... unless its some kind of real narrowband point to point microwave

I found the 4 on domm's proboard site After going fcc I dont see the last 2 either I put the first 2 in my scanner and one is always active I mean I can hear other depts dispatching jobs It is simulcasting 46.46 it seems not 45.32 Also the fcc lists E F F D Transmitter Street: SMITH ST AT MILBAR BLVD EAST FARMINGDALE, NY Those two streets dont cross so I guess they mean the water tower? And they dont have any directional antennas on their roof..So their signal goes out in all directions. There is no way to prevent any radio transmission from crossing the airports property.I could sit on Rt 110 with my 148gtl and send my am/fm/ssb signal right across the runway and theres nothing they can do...unless I am causing interference Just curious where you heard that the fire dept cant transmit accross the airport but everyone else can? State Pd,Suffolk Pd, taxis , delivery trucks etc etc Not to mention the new STATEWIDE WIRELESS NETWORK has a transmitter site right on the airports property as seen here www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&action=fcc&cs=WQEB444Callsign: WQEB444

East Farm has a low band transmitter on top of that water tower. I believe that's their main transmitter. On activations, they have return tones which come from the Wellwood Ave sub-station to ensure that the members in that area get activated.
As far as the airport thing, there's nothing that says you can't send radio signals across an airport, that's absurd.

what they might have meant was, it might be tough to get a signal across the airport, due to airport radio/radar interference. Maybe they have a set up to deal with that.

As volffemt points out, EFFD's low band is on the water tower behind Adventure Land. 453/458.1625 is the rf link to their HQ. The link is on all the time. If your near, you'll hear what the dispatcher hears.

Its, again, the search for the impossible! 100% state-wide communications and a society that is perfectly safe for all! All in the name of "HOMELAND SECURITY". The buzz phrase of this century. The King has no clothes.

Actually, the material on the state website said 95% mobile coverage over the state's land mass and 97% mobile coverage over roadways. That is a big undertaking but certainly not impossible. Since you mock the effort, what might you suggest as an alternative course of action, seriously?

Of course its possible, but what is the use! Will the state of NY want to take over the dispatching of all emergency agencies across the state? Obviously, no. The counties and individual agencies can handle that on a day to day basis. What then is the use of a state wide com system, well when all els fails we can blow the dust off the state issued HTs and hope the battery is still good and call someone, who might not be listening, for help. My point is that it is an unnecessary expense that would get infrequent use. Would your FD or PD give up its existing radio system for a piece of "open sky"? Were talking about a dirty bomb or a Cat 6 Hurricane or a 9.9 on the Richter scale quake! All of these events will tear down any system. If the state of NY wants to get a real secure system, the alternative is a sat com system that can with stand the forces of nature and terrorists. Sat Com would be my choice to provide true emergency communications when and where needed. My mocking is aimed at the mindless worship of the "Homeland Security" solution to all our problems. Taxpayers can foot just so much before the middle class disappears!
