Just a question, why are you all acting like children?
And lifirems, why do you keep deleting the freq (like was said above) what is the big deal that people want to listen to a frequency?

the problem is that people get ahold of the freq and then put it in there radio and then horse around on the freq. and besides i pay to listen and talk on the channel why should anyone get to listen for free.

I understand that, but you can only play around on the freq if you know the transmit PL, plus anyone can find it on the FCC website. FD's pay for a license to use freqs for operations and you listen for free!!! ;D

OK, let me get this straight. Garg, we understand that no freq is private. However, how can you justify someone who doesnt pay for a service that the rest of us do, using the same system?
No one ever said they couldnt listen. But information that was posted could allow someone to fuck off on the channel and ruin it for the rest of us. I dont think there is anything wrong with a radio club protecting their hobby.
If you were building a model airplane, wouldnt it piss you off if someone came in and finished it for you? You paid for the plane but some jerk-off built it without you.

The same thing can basically be said for the HAM radio UHF repeater that my club built and maintains. While we are not licensed to a particular frequency anyone with a radio these days can find the frequency and know the PL in about 30 seconds. Unlicensed or unauthorized people transmitting on a frequency is nothing new. Having a control operator to shut the repeater off would be the proper way of dealing with it.
It's not all that different than posting on this site. Anyone with a computer and internet access can get here. Register and you can even post here. Don't follow the rules and the moderator (same as a control op on a repeater) shuts you out.

I can see a problem if someone posted the tx freq and PL - but that was never done. That is the info needed if you wanted to "fuck off"

It was posted several times. It was deleted several times by me, and a few more by the admin. Then spoke to them about it and they continued. So action was taken. I dont see why this is such a big deal. Volffemt was being childish about it, (which i can not stand when dealing with firemen) so he was bounced. end of topic, if its ok with everyone else.

I would just like to state it is fine to listen but the system did cost a lot of money. The owners of the system would just like to enhance the system and keep it up and running. The donation that is received by the members who wish to join help with this cost. As for guys that just wanna listen and not bear any of the cost that is fine. Just sit back find the freq and listen. Feel free to make a donation!!! Its pretty simple we can go encrypted and you can go get that scanner too. You'll probably put that freq and info up here and we are back to the same BS game. If you wanna be the buff and be interactive spend some cash and help out if not just sit there and enjoy what everyone is helping support. The owners of the system are just looking for cooperation from the members on this board and other boards. For this I ask that we be careful with what we put up as far as freq's, there is someone out there screwing around not only with this system but with the local FD's and Ambulance squads. He id's himself and starts to turn equipment around. I also heard that he is calling in stuff with bogus id's.So you guys posting the info in one spot where this little jack ass can find it and start messing with anyone he wants isn't the smartest thing. Let the people have to work for it if they want it that bad. Thank you for your time. Feel free to start the bashing or pm direct. ;D

Nobody is bashing anyone Mike - just discussion.
That idiot was messing around on Sayville Amb freq a while back. They think they know who he is and the authorities have been alerted. He's going to get somebody killed, he turns equipment around, calls in as a emt going to complete a crew, states "Bayport crew in quarters" when in fact there's not... Anyone else having the same problems?

He gave a 35 in CI one day, acted as our 30. Even had the first due lay in a few lengths. He is the big reason i dont want that crap on here. Sure, he can find it elsewhere, but i dont want it being here.

Where is the BNN repeater located? I'm out in Eastern Suffolk, North Fork area. Is it worth joining from out there?

1. It's NOT a BNN repeater. It's open to all buff's. They are not affiliated with any paging group. We all play nice happy radio :-)
2. As far as eastern Suffolk goes we are working on a solution. Shouldnt be that long. What town are you in ??

I'd say you're not going to receive it in Orient. "Maybe" with a real good outdoor antenna high up, but a handheld - no way. And there is no way you're going to hit the receiver if you want to transmit, unless they have a remote receiver out east, which I don't think they do.
Did LIBNS put any remote receivers anywhere on LI yet?

Who do I contact to join? Maybe we could get something going out east here, possibly set up a remote repeater?
