Here's a few questions for you radio buffs. I want to replace my old Plectron that only activates for my Dept. tones with a scanner or radio that will work the same way. What do I need? Who makes it? Where do I get it? Do I have to be a rocket scientist to prgram it? How much does it cost? Thanks for the hep.

Federal Signal Co. makes a radio called the "Informer" it does tone alerts as do a few Uniden Bearcat Scanners. You'll need the specific alert tone frequencies for your FD. If you already have a Plectron they might still be on the label on the back of it.. Here is a link for the "Informer" As for programming it, if you find it difficult reach out to W2LIE. www.co.san-joaquin.ca.us/OES/PDF/INFORMER.pdf
