You can thank Russel Fox for the newest members of the UHF club. As of this month, HCFAS has two new freqs and three xmit sites. 482.475, 483.825 from Boxer Ct, Hunt, a water tower in Greenlawn and the Motorola tower off Burrs La on the Melville-Dix Hills boundry south of the E-way.

If Russell was involved it must have cost them an arm and a leg. He gets results, but at a serious price. Hey, Nick did I hear correctly? A little birdie told me that the teletubby leader at SFD was "let go" by the BOFC. They are no longer using his services for communication issues. What a blow to the Fox wallet. The days of CC are done? ex

I guess CC couldn't obtain Jayne's Hill or AT&T. I hear they are spending $2.5 million on an APCO 25 digital Astro repeater system. BIG WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS!

Ya, how well do you think a portable will work from say the inside of the WW Mall to Boxer Ct or the Moto tower on Burrs La? Forget Greenlawn. Oh, and how about the line charges to connect all thoes sites? Rough road ahead for HCFAS.

Line Charges will be over $400 a month for each line that crosses into an adjacent central office. 3 frequencies times 2 sites outside of HuntSta CO will be well over $28,800.00 a year... Plus the cost of lines to Boxer Ct... And now a totally unneeded digital radio system for 2.5 mil....... Ouch !!!!!!! HCFAS sure lost a lot of wisdom with the passing of charter member Bill Wicks.....

Well I guess the info I saw on W2lie is what confused me! His FCC Tracker for Suffolk shows HCFAS's FCC progress. Just after the entry for granting the license [7-24-08], the date of 5-21-08 is id as "withdrawn". What do we make of that?

On 7/10/08 they notfied the FCC of their intent to start building their system but then on 7/23/08 they filed a withdrawal. Sounds like the great "Teletubbies" really know what they are doing over there! Another great SFD communications system in the making!

Once again, the great Teletubbies & Co. have submitted for a 6-month extension from the FCC. Apparently, they have failed to secure several of the sites appearing on the license and HCFAS still has no monies to fund this $2.5 million dollar abortion! Does this all sound very familiar? Can you say Syosset FD?

As of now, HCFAS has until late November to get WQIU 942 constructed and on the air, or request an other extension. The beat goes on.

My concern is that it is successful and makes the case for P25. Hopefully the feds realize that they are EMS and not Fire and that Digital will never work for FD Comms.
That is all i have.
