@ approximately 0015 hours, Melville had a one-car MVA on Sweet Hollow Rd, just north of Old Country Rd.
Driver was pronounced at the hospital. Three passengers were injured, one seriously.

The single-car crash killed Jennifer Tunney, 19, of Amityville, and left passenger Michael Chmela, 20, of Lindenhurst, in serious condition at Nassau University Medical Center with a head injury, Suffolk County Police said. The 12:15 a.m. accident occurred when Tunney lost control of her 2008 Toyota while attempting to negotiate a curve on Sweet Hollow Road just north of Old Country Road in Melville, police said. Passengers Miriam Perez, 19, of Jamaica, Queens, and Aasia Lowe, 15, of Lindenhurst, were both taken to Huntington Hospital with what police called "non-life-threatening" injuries. Their conditions were unknown Tuesday. Tunney was taken to North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital in Plainview, where police said she succumbed to her injuries. The crash is still under investigation, and police are asking that anyone with information call Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252.

Immediately after activation 2-5-63 was on scene confirming 4 pinned in auto with 1 serious PI. Aviation was requested but then cancelled due to traumatic arrest and need to transport immediately. 1 Car accident. Vehicle was S/B at high rate of speed. When it came around a curve the driver lost control and over corrected before going head on into a tree. It then bounced into a 2nd tree. Most of the front end was ripped from the car. Heavy Rescue (2-5-12) was pulled right next to the auto. Cutters and spreaders were used to free all 4. The driver was transported to North Shore Plainview in Traumatic arrest. The remaining 3 transported to NUMC.
