Sounds like Huntington Community First Aid Squad has converted their simplex VHF [155,385] into a repeater system! Nothing on the FCC site under their call sign [KQT860] seams to have changed. I'll try to read the input freq. Maybe Mr. Silverman knows.

What you are hearing Nick is a re-broadcast of 483.825 which is in digital P25 mode. Why P25? Spending all that extra money for all that digital gear is ridiculous considering no one else in Fire or EMS Services are running P25 for operations in Suffolk! As for the person you refer to, he hasn't run communications for over 3 years now because of all the know-it-all's at HCFAS.

Funny, 'cause his name is listed by the FCC as the contact. But your right about the know-it-alls taking over, it happens every where. Did they wind up on those 3 sites [Boxer Ct, Burr's La, & Greenlawn] they originally picked?

The only site they have is Boxer Ct. The two others that were way out of their district were just a fantasy of the Syosset Teletubbies and subsequently dropped from the license. However the "consultant" and the vendor really sold those idiots a bill of goods by telling them to purchase all P25 equipment and use the digital mode for EMS operations. Unfortunately once again, it's the taxpayers who get stuck with the inflated cost of a totally unnecessary communications system. The monies would have been better off spent on paid personnel and paramedics considering their high amount of calls and mutual aids to their neighboring depts.

482.475 MHz is in use now in the analog mode with lousy sounding audio and a weaker signal than the old VHF system. A BIG WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY!
