BELLMORE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A firefighter was shot while responding to a car crash on Long Island.
It happened on Bellmore Avenue at Claxton Avenue in Bellmore around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
A car apparently lost control and struck a light pole.

As they were scattering, one firefighter was shot in the back.
He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in an unknown conditio

According to News 12, the Bellmore firefighter is now in stable condition at NUMC. The gunman was shot and killed by NCPD.
