Great job today by Mattituck @ their 100th anniversary parade. Free food, beverages, and rides were great and the wine baskets were a nice touch. Plus, the parade route was short which is always nice

What a party it turned out to be. We had departments from all over the island, conneticut and even england. The antique fire truck show started at 8 a.m. on Love La. and went to noon. The trucks looked very well cared for and were displayed with alot of pride. Every dept. that displayed was given a basket with treats from the North Fork and two bottles of our specially blended 100th anniversary wine. At noon we had our dedication at the fire house of our newest trucks ladder 868 and engine 861. A short reception was held for the members of mattituck and invited guests. Then with the permision of the chiefs and district Ladder 868 under the direction of its capt and lt. went to a wedding that agreed to be done and out of the parade route before the parade started. The bride and groom got some nice pictures in the bucket. Ladder 8 then went on to the parade. Following the parade the party began , we had five carnival rides in the back lot of the firehouse, also there was an ice cream truck and popcorn stand. Across the street at the American Legion hall parking lot and backyard we had three tents set up. We had a BBQ going with soda and water. Also going on was the band that played for over four hours. We had a beer garden on the back lawn. The night concluded with a fireworks show that lasted close to half an hour and had a grand finale that was heard and felt miles away. There was over forty depts. at the party along with more than half the town. THE KICKER IS THAT IT WAS ALL FREE!!!!! Thanks to the hard work for the last five plus years of fundraisng for this event. To the committee , JOB WELL DONE ;D ;D ;D. To all our visitors thanks for coming. To the merchants in town thanks for working with us. To Center Moriches F.D., Flanders and Stony Brook Hospital Ambulances THANKS FOR THE STANDBYE, we felt well taken care of. To Arkville F.D. thanks for the plaque,it means alot and has already found its spot in the new room. To the brothers from Ronkonkama and England you guys know how to party. Well I guess we will see you all in another 100 years thanks and good night.

Parade and afterparty were terrific, great job men. Will the parade winners be posted on the department's website?

I think in a couple of days there should be pictures and all stats from the parade on the web site. I know fire news called for the stats and they had a photographer there most of the day. I know we used 40 of the 48 kegs of beer. ;D ;D. The farthest travel trophy went to the fire brigade from the United Kingdom.

I believe we will be invited to every function Ronkonkoma has for the next 50 years. Had we broken out the cots I think they would have slept over. I can only imagine what there like on their home court. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I forgot to mention that we had one of the pipe bands playing in the beer tent and Cutchogues band rocked out on the front ramp of the firehouse for close to half an hour after the parade.
