Depends on where we go, we have 3 rigs that we can use as a RIT truck. We have our tower ladder, our heavy rescue truck, and we also have a squad truck that is set up with a stokes basket and what-not. 95% of our RIT calls, we send our heavy rescue. Our tower ladder goes to brentwood, and the squad truck is by request only i believe.

THAT IS NOT A SQUAD IT IS A ENGINE. SET UP WITH TRUCK TOOLS BECAUSE IF WE GET 24 FOR AN ENGINE WE HAVE SOME TRUCK CAPABILTIES.

All the guys are suppose to be qualified as a R.I.T member also for commack but seems to me that isnt working to well now. Always see guys going for a R.I.T team who arent qualified. Who only have little over a year and no R.I.T training under there belt. I know me personally I would want to know I got guys who went through the training to back me up not no brand new guys with a year who jsut got off probation coming in after me.

We were in the same predicament last year. Luckily, we finished the year with a couple of jobs and the young guys got their hands dirty. When I was home and active, I had to pull alot of young guys off the rig to make room for senior members. I do have a problem with guys that are shakeboxes on the fire floor being on the team, the same guys who will be the first to hop on the rig and are always put on the plug. In Flandaz, EVERYONE on the rig has to be R.I.T qualified, chauffeur included. We're in the process of developing some by-laws to implement.

If basic FAST/RIT procedures are not part of your annual required training. . . You need to advocate it and the Chief needs to implement it. There should be no excuse at this time & point because FAST/RIT is not a new concept. While some members will be more into the advanced level training than others, ALL firefighters need the basics as a minimum, because I hope most of you are not actually going to wait for the FAST/RIT to help you and/or your partner when someone goes down. The Interior FF's in my department are required annually to at least demonstrate the ability to locate the down ff, transmit a mayday, assess, convert the harness and use the FAST Pak or Scba to supplement a down ff's air.

we're required to take and pass county RIT before we can get off probation. probies arent allowed on any mutual aids unless given permission of a chief anyway though.
we roll an engine out of the stations and usually an engine out of the main. it depends on what and where though because we have sent the rescue and the truck before too.

AS A INCIDENT COMMAND POINT...THE TOWNS THAT COME INTO A R.I.T. REQUEST WITH A TRUCK ONE ENGINE AND 4 CHIEFS? DONT YOU SEE THAT AS A OVERKILL? IF WE ARE REQUESTING I THINK ONLY THE R.I.T. RIG SHOULD RESPOND WITH THERE CREW (WHO SHOULD ALL BE QUALIFIED) AND NO PROBIES OR JR GUYS... THE SAYING TOO MANY CHIEFS NOT ENOUGH INDIANS IS ALWAYS SHOWN AT ANY LARGE FIRE AND EVERY CHIEF WANTS TO BE IN CHARGE AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT..........

Protect the homefront first.
