Yes it is but try telling the idiot who calls it in that you are not sending the fd because smoke is supposed to be coming from the chimney

I just heard firecom tone out roslyn for: "SMOKE COMING FROM A CHIMNEY" ummm, I maybe getting a little older but isn't that where it is supposed to come from? Look up the stats for how many homes have been lost for what started as chimney fires, not uncommon at all. Also many times that black smoke pouring from a chimney is a good indicator of an oil burner problem. Again, many a home has been lost because of what started as a fire in the oil burner. Finally, weather it's firecom or your own dispatcher, your information you get over the radio is only going to be as detailed as what the caller gives. Yes smoke is supposed to come from a chimney, but since you're getting older, you should be all the more wiser and know that it is in fact a very common type of call.

Yes I am well aware of what an oil burner fire looks like, and one of the tell tale signs of a basement fire is fire coming from a chimney. i am just making conversation, and a different post.
