They started a few months ago because of the re-constuction of the Syosset/Woodbury & Woodbury Road started. In addition to that they have started working on Station 2 on Woodbury Road. This is only in parts of the district.

The dual response with Cold Spring Harbor FD covers all locations north of Syosset/Woodbury Rd. It is for both fire and EMS runs except the following : CO with no aided , wires burning and washdowns. All other alarms get the dual response. The first chief on scene is in charge regardless of dept. so a CSHFD chief could be in charge of a SFD crew. This arrangement should be going for awhile since Station2 is now closed and it's apparatus has been relocated Engine 5812 to HQ and Ambulance 5892 to Sta. 3. Additionally Syosset has a dual response procedure with Jericho FD for alarms on the LIE and Northern State Pkwy. JFD will respond up to South Oysterbay Rd east bound and SFD responds up to Broadway west bound. Whoevers district the alarm is in has a full response complimented by a dual response of an engine for fire alarms, an ambulance and rescue for mva's and an ambulance for EMS alarms other than mva's.
