well they arent staying black, the aluminum covers havent been put on. And as for the ladder sign we are incorporating the company patch (my avatar into the sign...the bricks in the corner, with a lion and flames with Dix Hills on one side of the lion and Fire Dept on the other side, as well as company underneath Dix Hills and One underneath Fire Dept...though I think they need to make the background of the sign black i saw the first version it was kinda blah but its still being worked on this is the new designed board, superimposed

Hey how are those crosslays working out for you guys? Any problems reaching the building with a 75'?

i would imagine if they have a 75' handline its just a trash line, not used structure fires... maybe car fires, open burns, protections lines etc

unless your talking about a quint..... well in that case i'd the the idiot now wouldn't i

Post by Taz on Nov 20, 2007 7:49:46 GMT -5
well 2 of the crosslays are 1.75, 210' and then 1 is 2.5, 600' and the final one is 2.5, 300' reduced to 1.75, 300' so if its a reasonable stretch we pull the 200' crosslay. If its a far setback we pull the long attack line. So far for the few fires it has been first due, and actually used as an engine, the houses were not set that far back, and we didn't have to pull the longer line, but from my exp at those first few fires it works pretty well. We have all the hose that the other engines have minus a couple 100' of 5".
As for the 75' aerial, it all depends on how far the house is set back. If the shit is hitting the fan and we need it up in a hurry our guys will do what they have to (safely) to get the ladder up and close to the building)

we have a 95' bucket quint with crosslays... its the most practical thing ever-- rolls first due to almost everything. sure the bucket moves slower but its a small price to pay
