I just saw Commack's T.L. advertised for sale on a website. Anyone know what's up? The rig is probably only 6-7 years old.

Adirondack Fire Equipment - Commack's name is removed, but it is definitely their rig. Asking $420K

yea that is their truck, its in front of their firehouse...A few months ago I was told they wanted to get one that they could climb, like their old rearmount. I think they might be looking at a Ferrara MM Tower if I recall correctly...im sure some of the CFD guys can clear up the matter though. Looks like they just colored over the graphics in some pics, because some pics still show CFD's graphics
they are asking 2 different prices, the front page says 10 payments of $55,767 which would be $557,670, but when you click for more details it says its for sale @ $420,000, just a little odd
It also says available for immediate delivery, so if it is sold quickly no clue on what CFD will be using, because I doubt the new truck is ready or even ordered, since they were only looking to replace it back in the spring.
The site also seems to have some other trucks from LI, and needs to be updated. I doesnt look like its an exclusive dealer, because I saw my old engine on there which was also listed at one point my firematic and I believe was actually sold by firetrucks123 or whatever the company is called. I think it got sent to Germany or something back in the spring. I saw Wading River's 90 HR truck which is currently listed on firematic's page of used trucks, it had Syosset's 1993 Engine (possibly 2 of them) from what I could tell, and Manor's 1996 Simon Duplex LTI 75” Quint Ladder, old Mack TL, and their 92 Heavy Rescue

A Commack member told me that rig was built to FDNY specs and is very underpowered... I'm sure CFD will chime in.

Not only is it in front of their firehouse, but if you watch the slideshow of pics of the truck you can see that it says 2-11-1 above the windshield along with the company patches and the dept. patch is not blanked out in all of the pics.

Everything looks good on paper. How it is actually built and the service you can get are the most important.

FDNYCFD 138 Ask Blue Point they have a 77' Ferrara they got last year. Smeal supplies Ferrara with thier Aerials. Just like they supplied Pierce in the early 90's. There's alot of older Pierce sticks on the island that are still in service. THT man is right. Service and quality are important. alot of the major Manufacturers are in turmoil. ALF, E-one, Seagrave. Check out the Firehouse.com forums alot of good info on there under apparatus innovations.

Any body have any comments on smeal aerials? My department is looking into a new ladder but unsure on what kind to go with we just looked at smeal . Charlotte NC's front line ladders are all Smeal. They were very happy with them when I was down there 2 years ago. It's 2 years later and they are still ordering more ladders and Smeal engines. The station I buffed did around 4k runs a year and they said it was rarely OOS. I ride a Smeal engine and its a tight rig. We run it hard in a mid-size city and it hasnt let us down. Smeal runs a tight shop.
