www.ambulass.comA Forum for something or other. Havent figured it out yet. Definition of Ambulass: One who takes advantage of the ambulance moving down the highway - disrupting other vehicles from merging back into traffic. Basically, an ambulass follows the ambulance through traffic - cutting off all motorists along the way. An amubulass usually drives an SUV or Hummer. Traffic is heavy on the highway. An ambulance is approaching so all vehicles move to the left or right lane and stop. The ambulance moves through the middle lane. As vehicles begin to merge back into the middle lane, they are suddenly cut-off by an ambulass following the ambulance at 40 mph - the ambulass takes advantage of the wake caused by the ambulance - and damn near wrecks into several cars along his chase.

theres nothing worse then driving a patient to the hospital only to look behind you and see the family member with 4 way flashers on going through red lights.... even after you told them not to follow the ambulance.
i'm always torn on what to do.... what about you guys?

I usually let the family know what hospital we are going to and let them know it will be just a few minutes more at the scene and why (i.e. additional vitals, making pt. comfortable) and suggest to them that they start out for the hospital and we will meet them there, also explaining that they cannot follow us because it would do no good for them to get into an accident themselves. More often than not this works, especially if it is explained and delivered in the right manner.

Coming to a 16 or 9A near you... Doctors warn of a dangerous new method of cocaine abuse: injecting the drug directly into the urinary tract. Physicians from New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center reported the case of a 34-year-old man who suffered severe bleeding under the skin after pumping cocaine into his urethra. It led to complications that destroyed his penis, nine fingers, and parts of his legs. "They fill an eye dropper or a syringe with a cocaine solution and inject it into the penis," said Dr. Samuel Perry, a professor of clinical psychiatry. The man had injected cocaine before intercourse in an effort to enhance sexual performance. He was admitted to the hospital because his penis had remained erect for three days, resulting in a painful inability to urinate. The medical term for a prolonged erection is "priapism." On his third day in the hospital, the man's erection suddenly subsided. Over the next 12 hours, blood leaked into the tissues of his feet, hands, genitals, back and chest. Blood coagulation caused tissues to die over large areas of the patient's body, and he was transferred to the burn unit of New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Doctors there were forced to amputate the man's legs above the knee and all but one of his fingers to stop the spread of gangrene. [glow=red,2,300]The patient's penis fell off by itself[/glow]. The man is currently recovering in a rehabilitation facility.
Men who inject cocaine into the penis report that it gives them a sexual high. Drug abuse treatment experts have previously reported external use of cocaine as a sexual stimulant. Cocaine powder is rubbed onto the surface of the genital organs by both men and women in an effort to halt premature ejacuation or improve sexual sensations.
"We report this case to alert clinicians to this new method of cocaine abuse and to describe its rare and previously unreported complications," the doctors concluded.

I think this is in reference to some pictures in the accident thread... California Highway Patrol Accepts Blame for Leaked Accident-Scene Photos
Updated: February 15th, 2007 01:42 PM PDT
GARRETT THEROLF Los Angeles Times
California Highway Patrol investigators have concluded that someone within their agency was responsible for the improper release of grisly crash scene photos that landed on hundreds of websites showcasing morbid curiosities.
The leak of the evidence photos has resulted in a $20-million claim filed against the CHP by the family of Nikki Catsouras, 18, of Ladera Ranch.
Catsouras was killed in the October crash.
The family said the release of the photos exposed them to numerous e-mails and text messages that taunted the family with pictures of Catsouras' decapitated corpse.
A letter sent this week to the family from the CHP said that "appropriate action has been taken to preclude a similar occurrence in the future."
CHP spokesman Steve Kohler declined to specify what steps were taken, nor would he say who released the photos or why.
"This is a legal matter, and we can't comment further," Kohler said.
The family's attorney, Keith Bremer, said the family was relieved to hear the CHP take responsibility for the photos' release.
But they would still seek a settlement, he said.

The cocaine in the penis story is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. If the story is true, than I hope he enjoyed the last time he got some some wit his big johnson before it left for greener pastures.

I saw those photos and they were pretty bad; however, the girl was intoxicated, stole her father's car [he called the police] and reached speeds of over 100 mph on the highway before she crashed into an innocent driver and wound up without her head after hitting an overpass.
Now the family wants to sue for damages??? WTF is this world coming to. Why not let those pictures and the story be circulated to schools throughout the country to try tp prevent DWI. Let the kids see what can happen when you drink and drive.

We had a 3 week stretch of bad MVA's a couple of years ago, saw alot of brain matter and gore worse than that. Out of respect for the family they shouldn't be shared. If it weren't for these knuckleheads we would be bored out of our minds. It's job security!
