You forgot Huntington Manor's new ALF Quint 2-4-8. I believe it was standing by for your FD last Saturday night/Sunday morning. ;D It's first job was just prior to the standby at the Nail Salon on Park Avenue.

Is that replacing an aging ambulance? I though MFD always favored 'bigger' buses some with 2 stretchers if I remember correctly......
Or will the paid guy being running around in that now?
What’s the paid EMT's radio # anyway....2510? 2580?
Thanks!

I know Melville just got a brand new double stretcher ambulance about a year or two ago. Can't wait to see this thing zooming around.

Speaking of Roosevelt, I remember quite a few years ago they had a fire in a commercial structure off of Babylon Tpke and they had their stick set up on the exposure 1 side I believe it was. They had a hose line running from the hydrant and up the tower to a ff who was directing the water from above. About 10 min later, I remember seeing the ff who was controlling the stick and the ff who was on top of the stick walk away from the truck and away from the fire scene, leaving the stick up and fully extended with the hose line still connected. The water was no longer flowing but they left the scene and didnt break the truck down. I thought it was hilarious and could not believe my eyes. I may have it on film but I'd have to check. Also, one of their helmets was floating in a river of water in front of the fire building... lol I was stunned but it was a good laugh for me at least..

Saw Wantagh's New engine's today...Both sparton/saulsbury Gladiator's engine's with 750 Gal. Tank with a Waterous Pump, Rated at: 1500 Engine 3 (693) out of station 3 replaces a 1977 Mack cf (open cab). It has blue and white striping. Engine 5 out of station 5 replaces, I believe a 1983 Mack (open cab) and it has the green and white striping. Both sharp looking trucks and just in time for winter. Anyone know when they were put into service? And if they also replaced Engine 8 (1982 Mack) out of headquarters which would be the last open cab in their front line fleet (I believe). Also, wondering what they did with their bus (6916) that was at station 3 as I did not see it in there and it looked like the size of the new engine made it impossible to fit both rigs in the house.

Actually the person who striped and lettered the truck made the mistake. When the truck was finished there was a decal on both rear side windows "32". Then once the mistake was realized it was changed to "31".None the less the truck came out good overall.

And the purpose of these "fancy" expensive vehicles are....? I know size matters but not only were the suburban's and tahoe's enough, now we are onto sportier SUV's? And everyone wonders why the tax payers are breaking the balls of the Fire Districts
