St. James FD Took Delivery of a new KME Predator Heavy Rescue. Some of the nicer features are a front bumper mounted Hurst Combi tool. All the Hurst Pumps and Reels are tucked away nicely out of the compartments. They are inside the coffin's up top. It has a portable winch that has 3 attachment points around the truck. They were still mounting things around the vehicle while I was there. They are planning to put the truck in service during the 1st weekend of May.

2Northside4life2, What wrong with the Fire Patrol? I know I said the rig is a "HEAVY RESCUE" but in Bay Shore "HEAVY RESCUE" is done by the Fire Emergency Service Squad aka "FESS" and they are also in the process of getting a new rig also being bbuilt by RESCUE 1. The deliver date for the new 318 right now is April, 2009.....Can't not wait. Spartan Chassis, Walk-Around Heavy Rescue. This is what the new 3-1-11 replaced,

Northport VA Hospital FD recently replaced there old 2 1/2 ton brush truck with a new B.R.A.T. They could really use it, especially with all the difficult obsticles in the woods there. Pics and specs of the new 2-13-12 are in the link below. firematic.com/brat/northport_va08/index.htm

Northport VA old brush truck vs new brush unit (link to photos & specs of new truck is posted above) Does the VA still have this truck at the hospital, or did it disappear? And where did it originally come from?

I am not sure if the VA still has their old brush unit. I know it would probably come in handy to keep it around, but I did not see it when I passed through going to the fireworks show there. I don't know where it came from either. I will let you know if I find out any info. In case I end up talking to someone at the VA, do you have any other questions about it?

To Jupiter27Truck: I went down to the VAFD and asked a member and the chief about the old brush truck. All they said was that they sent it to the government 3 months ago, who put it on auction for the highest bidder to take. Basically, they don't have record of where it came from or where it went. Hope this helps a bit lol

Thanks, I appreciate it. I figured it would've hit the surplus pile at some point, maybe it'll pop up on one of those auction sites. I've heard about it coming from Coram but was hoping for confirmation. Thanks again

The VAFD GI did come from Coram. A past member Coram is a firefighter at the VA and may have got it there. He told me it was sold off to a private collector when the new BRAT was bought.
Stay Safe
