this is probally a stupid question but in dix hills i know they have paid EMT/ house mantience guys. do these guys also staff or sometimes ride on the fire appratus, or just the ambulance? just wondering thats all. dix hills has a paid paramedic (2-8-MEDIC) on during the day. they also have a couple housemen who will respond as firefighters on 2-8-10 (Mini-Pumper) to fires and MVAs. they staff the ambulance if no volly crew shows and they'll also roll out to support the medic if its a serious ems call (cardiac arrest) dhfd vollies are excellent about responding though, so i don't think the housemen are riding the ambulance too much

No, it's going to Station 2. The buzz is that if we like it, then they might get one for HQ. But like I said, that's the buzz....

Hey Jay is Rescue 4 gonna have Rapid Intervention Team capabilities? affirm, as it is right now. effd runs 1-5-4 and 1-5-3 for rit when called, they carry pretty much all the same equipment. whats special and different about the new 4 is the rear compartment is the rit compartment. most depts use that for the hurst tools, our left and right rear compartments will be set up with all the hurst stuff. the rear compartment is a roll out tray equipted with everything we carry for our rit teams. the stokes will be in there with a partner saw, rope bags, sets of irons, hooks, rit bag all in it, ready to go. so the rear is completely dedicated to that. the rest of the items, thermal camera, radios, flashlights and other small items are in the cab. above that roll out tray we have 7 pike poles, a 16 foot and 24 foot ladder. i will get detailed pics up soon.

I see Wading River has their heavy rescue for sale on firematics web site, that truck was a monster and way ahead of its time. Anyone know what they are replacing it with? They always go all out on their rigs...
