Does anyone know if Farmingville got a new tower ladder? If so what is it?

Farmingville should be getting their new tower soon. I don't remember for sure what it's going to be. I think it's a Pierce Mid-Mount. I could be wrong on the builder.

Anyone know of a fire house that might have an old truck that they could donate to Pearlington, Mississippi which lost ten in Katrina? I am doing my darndest to find equipment for the West Hancock Fire Rescue Department there, go to: www.westhancockfirerescue.org to see them before the storm. Other Mississippi towns have been given trucks, Bay St Louis got six - even though it did not lose any, because its been on TV. Pearlington, right on the Louisiana border across from Slidell, La. has been ignored and desperately needs help. I am currently filling a tractor trailer truck with various supplies they need, Clorox, shovels, etc. But, I want to get them fire equipment, axes, hoses and most importantly - trucks. They are still answering fire calls there - in their t-shirts for lack of anything better. This department lost almost everything in Katrina. They had eleven trucks before the storm; they lost ten and ALL of their fire equipment - every ax, every hose, etc. Everything - all but the trucks - was washed out into a bayou somewhere by a wave 19'3" that blasted through their fire house at tremendous speed and with enormous power. Everyone who evacuated to the near by NASA base lived, the rest still are being picked out of trees everyday by the fire department when their bodies are found. People in Pearlington are still sleeping in their cars and trucks five weeks later - including the Fire Chief and his wife - and eating cold food out of cans. I have a tractor trailer parked in Bridgehampton now which I am trying to fill for them with shovels, iron rakes, pry bars, cleaning supplies and basic office equipment, desks, etc. - they lost all of that too. If anyone has any fire equipment - anything at all - that they could give to this stricken fire department, please let me know. I can supply the West Hancock Chief Kim Jones's cell phone if you need it. You can verify that this post and my plea is genuine by checking with Suffolk County Fire Rescue Deputy Commissioner Brad Maier who has spoken with Chief Jones after I told him about Pearlington. He told me on Friday that an e-mail was being sent out immediately to let all Suffolk County Fire houses know that Pearlington could use help. I believe that Chief Jones' number as well as my own is on that e-mail. Please look for it. If you have seen this post elsewhere on this site, please forgive me. Time is short, I can not keep the tractor trailer much longer than this week. Transportation down there is very expensive, I have raised enough to pay for this truck. With the help of fire companies across Long Island it could be filled with Fire Equipment. If something as disastrous as Katrina had happened to any of us, we would want strangers to jump to our assistance. Please help Pearlington, their situation is terrible. Thank you.

OUT OF THESE 4 COMPANIES WHO DO YOU GUYS THINK ARE BETTER > CRIMSON MARION SEAGRAVE OR PIERCE ? Marion is a nice rig, but as far as I know there are none on LI, we almost bought one but decided against it because of that fact and there were none to compair to here on the island, crimson is also a nice rig but again there are none on LI to compair to. Out of the 3 that you stated I would go with pierce, I really havent heard too many bad things about them except for the price... The new 553? LOL

From what I last heard 15 will be kept for a while. Since they got rid of all the other Mack rigs from the 70's, 80's and 90's... I hope they keep this one...I know they have two antiques from the 50's but it would be nice to see a cf stay around since that was their bread and butter for so long...Looks like ALF is going to be the standard for them now, as this will be their 4th ALF rig...to join the 2 engines (2-4-3 and 2-4-4) and the quint (2-4-8)...by the way the new ladder will be 2-4-7

IT IS NICE TO SEE SOME DEPTS KEEP SOME RIGS AROUND AS EITHER SPARES OR PARADE PIECES THAT AREN'T ANTIQUES SUCH AS MACK CF'S LAFRANCE CENTURIES SEAGRAVES ETC... MY DEPT KEPT OUR EARLY 80'S LAFRANCE WHICH IS AN EXACT FDNY SPEC WHEN THEY WERE USING ALF'S IN THE 80'S. IT IS IN PRETTY RUFF CONDITION HAVING BEEN IN SERVICE DURING THE VERY BUSY 80'S AND EARLY 90'S AND WILL HOPEFULLY BE CLEANED UP IN THE NEAR FUTURE

It's basically a twin of the Great Neck Alert's American LaFrance Aerial. Did you guys finally put some equipment on your aerial? Last time I was there for a stand-by there was next to nothing on the truck.
