Yeah too bad 147 is always in the shop. Maybe some one from GC could fill in but I think 144 is a pretty decent truck, I know it was out for a while last year for repairs. But the rig is almost 25 years old, seems like they got their monies worth.

4 is a good rig, nothing is like the old 7...very fast...it is now a spare ladder for Albany FD the problem with the new 7 its a kme aerialcat with automatic outriggers. you can switch to manuel but when the automatic is out the paid man just sends it out, oos.........its a great, when it works...

Not giving away my age, but remember when it was new and fast yes, but trivia buffs, the old 149 delivered the same year could do Stewart Ave. from HQ. to the Manor line in three minutes and you could hear it from Hempstead on a busy day. Okay, what make, what special about it in the first battalion at the time? Bonus question, whoose new engine berthed with both the above for a short time during the acceptance period, and the company reminds you of a space ship?

NHP 171 Enterprise..the yellow Maxim? Enterprise wins and 149 was a Hahn and besides that fact bieng special on Long Island, probably only by weeks, but I believe it was the first 1500 GPM delivered in the first Batt.

Billy, yes they did, nice looking truck and had plenty of power. Was the main paid engine out of HQ for quite a number of years and you could hear it coming from a mile away without the sirens, and the built in Mars 888 light arrangement on the nose was wild coming down Stewart Ave., would light up the roadway in the summer with the tree canopy.

NCPD ESU 2421 2006 Ford F550 Hackney Rescue box. NCPD received 2 identical trucks, 2422 is having equipment mounted and should be in service by Labor Day. New 2422 replaces a 2000 Ford F450 (recycled ambulance chassis with over 160,000 miles on it) and a 1978 TracII rescue box. New 2421 replaces a 2001 Ford F550 with 120,000 miles and a 1992 Hackney box. "Old" 2421 will now be a spare.

I thought 2420 was a supervisor car? a dodge durango...?

Post by ESU2422 on Aug 29, 2006 12:13:41 GMT -5
2401 is the Durango, and 2420 was a dual wheeled pick-up with a cap that was utilized as a back-up when the other trucks were OOS.

now is it true that I heard NCPD is gonna have an ESU truck assigned for every area....1 for the 3/6 Pcts, 1 for the 2/8 Pcts, 1 for the 4/5 Pcts & 1 for 1/7 Pcts.......

While it would be great to have an extra truck or two on the road, unless they double the amount of cops in the unit I don't see that happening. We're lucky to keep the trucks we have manned right now.

Wow, I can tell you that is a false rumor. There are no people being trained right now. One retirement for Oct. and that's about it. Where'd you hear the 13 guy rumor?

hey taz, how do you guys like the pike poles on the outside of the ladder rack. seems like you can only access them when the rack is down, we had the factory move them to the inside like all our other rigs?

|

Post by Taz on Sept 17, 2006 20:53:04 GMT -5
its not at my house, but those arent the primary hooks, the truck has 3 hooks above the crosslays at the pump panel (pike pole comes out on the OIC side and the halligan hooks come out the chauffuer side). I know they had the tubes on the ladder rack moved from the topside to the bottomside by firematic
